Almost 25 years have passed since Mario Moretti Polegato, founder and President of Geox, came up with the revolutionary solution of piercing the rubber soles of his shoes to allow his feet to breathe.
GEOX's first patent resolves the problem of lack of breathability in rubber soles (or soles made from any other synthetic material). The sole is perforated and a special membrane made up of a microporous material allowing the passage of water vapour is placed inside; being waterproof, it enables feet to breathe but keeps water out. The micro- pores of the membrane, which are smaller than a drop of water but bigger than a water-vapour molecule, prevent water from getting into the sole, but allow sweat to escape. This means the foot can breathe perfectly and stay dry.
